Artist in Residence Wrap Up

Thank you to Megan Tuttle, Mrs. Yospin and all our parent volunteers for another successful year of Art Therapy, funded by the L-H PTO.

This year they concentrated on “empathy”.

The first week students were asked to draw their worst day at school and best day at school, the next week students had to create stickers of kindness to show how they can make someone’s bad day be better.  For many students, it was a challenge to want to give up their own designed sticker for someone else.

Ms. Tuttle discussed with them that it’s hard to give up something you love and it’s not out of selfishness, but it’s because it’s something that they truly value and that’s ok - it allowed the activity to foster emotional awareness and help students practice, compassionate communication through creative means.
