PTO Sponsors Cultural Arts Assembly Wednesday

The PTO uses funds donated by you to help support Cultural Arts assemblies for your children throughout the school year.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, they will enjoy a festive Lunar New Year celebration. The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company will amaze with sounds of firecrackers, cymbals and drums accompanying acrobatic lion dancers and vibrant colors from the motions of floating lines of fabric, costumes and props. Choreographer Nai-Ni Chen has been making dances that bridge the richness of Asian artistic heritage and the dynamism of American dance for the past 30 years.

Author/Artist Bryan Collier Coming to L-H

This year’s author visit will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 28 with renowned author-illustrator Bryan Collier, recipient of multiple Caldecott Honors and Coretta Scott King Awards as well as the Ezra Jack Keats New Illustrator Award.

He will be discussing the following titles with the children during his presentations and will be happy to sign any books:

Uptown by Bryan Collier

Music is a Rainbow by Bryan Collier

All Because You Matter by Tami Charles

We are Here by Tami Charles

Dave the Potter by Laban Carrick Hill

Thank you to the parent community for their generous donations to the PTO which make the author visit program possible!

February is Read Across America month, and to celebrate, we're participating in a potato book character contest where kids turn an ordinary household potato into their favorite book character.
