Fifth-Graders Holding Bake Sale TUESDAY After School
The 5th graders will hold a BAKE SALE on Tuesday, April 25from 3-3:30 pm on the blacktop (rain date is Wednesday) to benefit GRACE and Bridges, for their "Support Summit and More this Summer" service project. You'll see our 5th graders responsible for advertising the bake sale, running the sale, and donating goods for the sale. Each item will be $2.
Please spread the word and come by to enjoy some sweet or savory snacks after school!
Our goal is to give GRACE 200 "Summer fun" kits and at least 20 cases of water for Bridges.

Want to Get More Involved at L-H? We Need Some PTO Board Members for Next Year!
We're already planning ahead for next year, and we have a few positions open on the Executive PTO Board. Specifically, we're looking for the following positions:
-- Co-VP’s (this is a 2-year commitment, as this position moves to president the following year)
-- Assistant Webmaster (updates the PTO website)
-- Assistant Communications (sends out the weekly newsletter as well as other one-off communications)
--Assistant Volunteer Coordinator (helps organize the volunteers needed throughout the year)
The Executive Board meets every other month, usually for about an hour, in the morning at school.
Learn About Standardized Testing This Wednesday; Plus PTO Update
Join us this Wednesday, April 26, from 8:45 - 10:15 am, to learn about New Jersey standards and standardized testing. Mr. Carlin will discuss the development of standards and state assessments.
This workshop is designed to orient parents to how grade-level standards are developed and assessed at the State level. Participants will engage in an exploration and orientation of State standards and the NLSLA ( New Jersey Student Learning Assessment) that will be administered for students in Grades 3-5 this May.
Participants will also have the opportunity to explore assessment items in the same manner in which our students will experience.
The PTO will also be there to give an update on our recent parent climate survey and to answer any PTO-related questions.
Boys Night Out is This FRIDAY!
Calling all L-H boys and one special grownup -- mom, stepmom, grandma, aunt, older sister, etc.: join us on Friday, April 28 from 6-8 pm! The evening will take place indoors and outdoors and will include obstacle course fun, field day games, prizes, pizza, and a DJ.
Our third-graders will get to experience what life was like coming to the United States as an immigrant when they travel to Ellis Island this Friday, April 28.
SPARC Broadway & Bagels Event April 29
Please join SPARC for a family-friendly musical revue (and breakfast!), featuring Summit performing arts students of all ages (including some of our own Seussical kids!)
Enjoy top-notch performances from our amazing kids and help SPARC to continue to support performing arts across the district.
Save the date of Thursday, May 4, from 6:30 - 9 pm for a fun night out for L-H grownups at BarBacoa!

Your PTO Dollars at Work
We hope all of you had the opportunity to check out our amazingly talented fourth- and fifth-graders this weekend in their performance of Seussical. They all worked so hard, and we couldn't be more proud of them!
These productions only happen with a LOT of hard work from kids and parents alike. And we also rely on PTO money to help pay for the rights to the show, hiring a director, paying for costumes, programs, hallway decorations, props, etc.
