Speak Up Summit is an organization whose mission is three fold:
1-To educate the general public on the importance of quality public schools so that support for our public schools becomes the clear and abiding community standard;
2-To provide independent community perspective of the schools, the Board of Education, and the superintendent’s office to ensure that our schools are providing the best educational experience possible; and, to speak up on those issues affecting our children’s ability to receive an excellent public school education.
Summit Board of Education meetings are an ideal opportunity for the public to see its Board at work, discussing issues and making decisions that set the course for the Summit Public Schools. Board meetings are conducted according to the provisions of the state’s Open Public Meetings Act (Sunshine Law).
Meetings are usually held on a Thursday evening each month, starting at 7pm, in the Summit High School Library/Media Center. At these meetings, the Board formally votes on agenda items. The public is invited to attend the meetings and may address the Board. Towards the beginning of each meeting, public comment to items on the agenda is first solicited. The public may then address the Board regarding any school issue.
